COMEDK Syllabus 2026 — Complete Chapter-Wise Guide for PCM
Complete COMEDK UGET 2026 syllabus for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Chapter-wise list, exam pattern, difficulty level analysis and preparation tips.
COMEDK UGET (Under Graduate Entrance Test) is Karnataka's premier private engineering entrance exam, giving access to 190+ self-financed engineering colleges including top institutions like RVCE, MSRIT, PESIT, and BMS College of Engineering. The COMEDK 2026 exam is expected in May 2026. Here is the complete syllabus and preparation guide.
COMEDK 2026 Exam Pattern
COMEDK is a 3-hour online CBT (Computer Based Test) with 180 questions — 60 each for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. There is no Biology paper (unlike KCET). Marking: +1 for correct, 0 for unattempted, 0 for wrong (no negative marking). The exam is conducted in a single shift, typically in May.
Time management is critical in COMEDK: you get exactly 60 seconds per question across all three subjects combined. Speed accuracy training is essential.
COMEDK Physics Syllabus
COMEDK Physics follows the Karnataka PUC 1st and 2nd year syllabus. Key chapters: Physical World & Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work-Energy-Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Oscillations, Waves (Sound), Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects, EMI, Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Ray and Wave Optics, Dual Nature of Radiation, Atomic Structure, Nuclear Physics, and Semiconductor Devices.
COMEDK Physics goes slightly deeper than KCET Physics. Numerical problems are more calculation-intensive. Electrostatics (10–12 marks), Current Electricity (8–10 marks), and Optics (8–10 marks) are consistently high-yield areas.
COMEDK Chemistry Syllabus
Chemistry chapters span Atomic Structure, Periodic Properties, Chemical Bonding, States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry, s/p/d/f block elements, Coordination Chemistry, and a rich Organic Chemistry module covering all functional group classes. Biomolecules, Polymers, and Environmental Chemistry are also included.
COMEDK Chemistry is comparable to JEE Main Chemistry in depth. Organic reaction mechanisms are tested more rigorously than in KCET. Inorganic Chemistry (p-block, coordination) requires careful factual memorisation.
COMEDK Mathematics Syllabus
Mathematics is often the differentiating subject in COMEDK. The 23-chapter syllabus includes Sets & Functions, Logarithms, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Sequences & Series, Permutations & Combinations, Mathematical Induction, Binomial Theorem, Trigonometry (both direct and inverse), Matrices & Determinants, Coordinate Geometry (Lines, Circles, Conics), 3D Geometry, Calculus (Limits, Derivatives, Integration, Differential Equations), Vectors, Probability & Statistics, Mathematical Reasoning, and Linear Programming.
Calculus dominates COMEDK Maths — expect 20–22 questions from Differential and Integral Calculus combined. Coordinate Geometry (Circles, Conics) adds another 10–12 questions. Algebra (Complex Numbers, Matrices, Permutations) contributes 12–15 questions.
Key Differences from KCET Syllabus
Syllabus coverage is nearly identical between KCET and COMEDK — both follow Karnataka PUC curriculum. The difference is in difficulty and speed requirements:
1. COMEDK questions require multi-step calculation, while KCET questions are often one-step.
2. COMEDK Maths includes a few additional topics (Logarithms chapter, more complex trigonometric identities).
3. COMEDK's 60-second-per-question pace demands a much higher level of practice and automaticity.
Preparation Strategy for COMEDK 2026
1. Build a strong JEE Main-level understanding of all chapters — don't rely on KCET-level preparation alone.
2. Practice COMEDK previous year papers (2019–2024) under strict timed conditions.
3. Work on calculation speed — COMEDK Maths in particular punishes slow calculators.
4. In the last 2 months, alternate between KCET and COMEDK mock tests to build exam-specific reflexes.
